At Open and Affordable Dental and Braces in Denver, we address crucial root canal issues, often arising from deep decay or injured pulp, which if neglected, can lead to complications like abscesses. Our root canal therapy, a common dental procedure, focuses on treating teeth affected by sensitivity to temperature, pain, or trauma.

Teeth requiring root canal treatment, whether due to deep decay, infection, or trauma, can lead to more than just pain or discomfort. However, there's no need to worry, as our expert team is here to assist you.

Our expert team, utilizing advanced dental care techniques, aims to save your natural teeth, often resolving issues in just a few visits. We are dedicated to easing discomfort, often caused by repeated dental procedures or deep cracks in the tooth, ensuring effective treatment and preserving oral health.

Utilizing state-of-the-art technology and techniques, we ensure a comfortable and effective treatment experience. Our specialized approach means that many patients find relief and preserve their natural teeth effectively, often in just one or two visits, though more complex cases might require additional care.

Untreated root canal issues can lead to various problems, from persistent pain and swelling to the risk of spreading infection. At Open and Affordable Dental and Braces, we're committed to addressing these challenges, helping you not only maintain your natural smile but also improve your overall oral health and wellbeing.

Root Canals in Simple Words

1 / What does root canal treatment involve?

Devitalisation, also known as Root Canal, basically consists of the removal of the vital part of the tooth known as the pulp (or dental nerve), inflamed tissue to be removed along the entire length of the roots (1, 2, 3 or 4, depending on the tooth being treated).

2 / What are the stages involved in a root canal procedure?

The procedure is usually performed in several stages. Before proceeding to the actual devitalisation, anaesthesia is applied, after which the surgical field is isolated.

Next, the pulp is removed, the area is disinfected, the post is fixed, the tooth is filled with specific materials such as root canal cement and finally the tooth is reconstructed.

If a devitalisation of a premolar or molar has been performed, the application of a capsule is usually recommended, which usually guarantees greater resistance and durability. It's a permanent procedure that could last up to 20 years

3 / How is the depth of tooth decay assessed?

Many times, in order to assess the depth of caries, the tooth is first cleaned and filled with a temporary, softer material, and then possibly permanently filled or devitalised, in the event that the first solution has not solved the problem and vital parts of the tooth have been affected.

Is the Root Canal Treatment Painful?

No, root canals are not painful

There are many who are afraid of the dentist and, even more so, of invisible treatments that involve incisions or interventions, that are more profound. Let us therefore clarify one thing.

The only pain experienced, if it can be called that, is at the time of anaesthesia (where much depends on the hand of the dentist). During the treatment one may experience at most a soreness in the treated area.

Post-devititalisation pain, on the other hand, may depend on the type of tooth treated, i.e. whether a single-rooted (e.g. an incisor, a very rare case) or multi-rooted devitalisation was performed.

Post-operative pain, which, although depending on each patient, is in any case more about discomfort or a few sporadic impulses than anything else and it can easily be managed with pain-relieving drugs.

Excellent dentist! I will never go anywhere else as long as I live in the area! All of the staff is kind and very patient. They are prompt with their appointments and are respectful of your time. When you have an appointment time they don't leave you sitting in the chair waiting to be seen. Highly recommend! 5 stars!

Dr. D is amazing! She provided great patient education and did one of the most thorough dental exams I've ever had. She was very personable and welcoming. I would definitely recommend visiting Dr. D!

Meet the Team

  • Do you remove braces or Invisalign engagers/attachments?
Although it's preferred to have your braces or Invisalign engagers/attachments removed by the original doctor who performed your orthodontic case, occasionally patients find themselves in situation where they've moved or lost the relationship with the orthodontic doctor. In these cases we can absolutely remove your braces or Invisalign engagers/attachments. We can also provide you with retainers, so you don't lose the progress you've made with your orthodontics.
  • What types of guarantees are there for dental work done at your office?
We always guarantee all work against manufacturer material defect. Unfortunately dentistry resides in a VERY harsh environment, the oral cavity. Dentistry just like automobile tires can wear down with use. If any of the dentistry we have provided to you does not last, breaks, or gets damaged, please call your office and we'd love to discuss your particular case.
  • What do braces and Invisalign cost?
Typically braces and/or Invisalign cost between $3500 to $6500 for a 24 month treatment. Some treatments can be more or less than this depending on your treatment goals and skeletal configurations. Insurances can pick up a portion of this fee. We always give you the cost of any procedure before beginning.
  • Do you fabricate Orthodontic Retainers, if so how much do they cost?
Orthodontic retainers are used to keep your teeth straight, especially after braces or Invisalign. We fabricate orthodontic retainers in-house and can get them back to you within a few days. The cost of orthodontic retainers is $200 per arch, minus what your insurance covers. We always give you the cost of any procedure before beginning.
