Devitalisation, also known as Root Canal, basically consists of the removal of the vital part of the tooth known as the pulp (or dental nerve), inflamed tissue to be removed along the entire length of the roots (1, 2, 3 or 4, depending on the tooth being treated).
2 / What are the stages involved in a root canal procedure?
The procedure is usually performed in several stages. Before proceeding to the actual devitalisation, anaesthesia is applied, after which the surgical field is isolated.
Next, the pulp is removed, the area is disinfected, the post is fixed, the tooth is filled with specific materials such as root canal cement and finally the tooth is reconstructed.
If a devitalisation of a premolar or molar has been performed, the application of a capsule is usually recommended, which usually guarantees greater resistance and durability. It's a permanent procedure that could last up to 20 years.

Post-operative pain, which, although depending on each patient, is in any case more about discomfort or a few sporadic impulses than anything else and it can easily be managed with pain-relieving drugs.

Unfortunately dentistry resides in a VERY harsh environment, the oral cavity. Dentistry just like automobile tires can wear down with use. We fabricate orthodontic retainers in-house and can get them back to you within a few days. The cost of orthodontic retainers is $200 per arch, minus what your insurance covers. We always give you the cost of any procedure before beginning.
